Moffatt Thomas Attorney Benjamin C. Ritchie Awarded Denise O’Donnell Day Pro Bono Award
November 6, 2015
IDAHO FALLS – Last year 750 Idaho attorneys reported volunteering 14,000 hours of free legal work for 2,100 low-income persons. A handful of those attorneys have been singled out by the Idaho State Bar for the Denise O’Donnell Day Pro Bono Award. Award winners were selected for their extraordinary time and effort to resolve legal issues for low-income clients.
Benjamin C. Ritchie, Moffatt Thomas, was honored for helping a half-brother gain guardianship of a child whose mother had died. The minor was being cared for by the older brother when their absentee father arrived and took the child. The minor was able to escape and find police who helped him reunite with his brother. The lawyer’s work established sole guardianship and helped to create a long-term stable environment for the child.
