James (“Jim”) Martin was honored as Firm Associated Partner.  Jim is a Moffatt Thomas Shareholder and Director, focusing his practice on complex commercial litigation. After graduating from law school, he clerked for a Federal judge then joined Moffatt Thomas in 1992, practicing law with “the same great law firm for 22 years in a day and age where change is the norm.”  The Leaders in Law publication notes his most rewarding and challenging case to date was defending Washington Capital Management in 9th District Court over Boise’s infamous real estate, “The Hole.”  According to Michael G. Russell, Washington Capital Management’s Chief Investment Officer, “…through the efforts of Jim as well as many others, the plaintiff no longer had the ability to tie up an important downtown property.”  Prior to attending college, Jim worked with livestock for the rodeo circuit.  “Getting up at 4:30 in the morning and taking care of the animals before going to school and again when you came home; it made law school not as difficult as for other folks.”

Mindy Willman was named Up and Coming Lawyer in the 2014 award celebration.  An attorney with Moffatt Thomas since 2010, Mindy enjoys the challenge of solving complex legal issues for her clients. Born and raised in Idaho, Ms. Willman is passionate about serving the people and companies who live and do business in Idaho. Leaders in Law noted that her passions — solving problems, pursuing justice, and helping people — are reflected in her legal work and in her community service.  She serves on the Board of Directors for Launch Ministries, and since 2008 she has taught English to refugees through a faith-based non-profit.  “I believe that the world is full of people who need an advocate, someone to speak on their behalf.  One of my primary goals in life is to be a zealous advocate both in and out of the courtroom.”

Marshall Major was honored as this year’s Unsung Hero.  Marshall has served as the Information Technology Manager for Moffatt Thomas for thirteen years.  He graduated from the College of Idaho after studying business, marketing and information systems, and he earned a Master’s Degree in 2002. Working in the background to ensure the firm’s many technology needs are met, he stated in the Leaders in Law publication, “I feel I am the guy in the back, supporting, helping the attorneys be successful.”  Moffatt Thomas attorney Patricia Olsson praised Marshall saying, “Marshal is a problem solver…He is always positive, truly a leader in the law.  He makes what needs to happen, happen.”  Marshall’s attitude reflects the spirit behind the Unsung Hero award, stating, “I solve problems. When I do my job well, no one notices.”
