Mr. Williams is a trial lawyer with over twenty years of experience representing a wide variety of clients in both state and federal courts. Mr. Williams has tried over twenty-five cases in jury and bench trials to verdict. Mr. Williams has a broad-based litigation practice, handling cases in employment law, medical and legal malpractice, healthcare law, commercial law, products liability and insurance bad faith.
Mr. Williams’ recent trial experience and victories include:
- Defense verdict in complex commercial case after two-week trial alleging 1.8 million dollars in damages.
- Defense verdict in legal malpractice case after eight day trial alleging 2.4 million dollars in damages.
- Defense verdict in numerous personal injury actions.
- Defense verdict in wrongful termination action.
- Summary judgment for national bank in lender liability case alleging 30 million dollars in damages, upheld on appeal by Idaho Supreme Court.
- Summary judgment for employer action alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Mr. Williams has had significant experience representing and defending employers, including physicians and hospitals. Mr. Williams has represented employers with matters involving issues arising under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Idaho Human Rights Act, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Mr. Williams frequently lectures on litigation, employment and trial practice, and has authored articles on employment law, insurance bad faith and litigation.
Mr. Williams joined the firm in 1991, after serving a two year judicial clerkship for Idaho Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert E. Bakes.
