Professional Profile
Mr. Peterson defends numerous employers and sureties at all stages of workers’ compensation matters, including at hearings and mediations before the Idaho Industrial Commission and in appellate matters before the Supreme Court of Idaho. Mr. Peterson’s workers’ compensation experience also includes defending the Idaho Guaranty Association and Western Guaranty Fund in workers’ compensation cases, and representing employers and sureties in compliance matters before the Idaho Industrial Commission.
Mr. Peterson represents individuals and entities in a wide variety of litigation matters including breach of contract, product liability, negligence, liens, and other general litigation.
Mr. Peterson represents multiple medical providers in various transactional and litigated matters. His health law practice includes the representation of hospitals in medical indigency, collections, medical liens, federal regulatory compliance, and judicial confirmation of contractual relationships with governmental entities. His health law experience also includes representing hospitals in licensing issues and successfully preventing the improper disclosure of mental health records by the Idaho State Department of Health & Welfare. Mr. Peterson currently serves as chair of the Health Law Section of the Idaho State Bar.
While at Brigham Young, Mr. Peterson was active in Moot Court and was selected as a 1999 1L Top Oralist, 1999-2001 Team Member and Mentor for the 2L Competition. He was a judicial clerk for the Honorable Monte B. Carlson, at the Fifth District Court for the State of Idaho. He was also a judicial extern for the Honorable Larry M. Boyle at the United States District Court.
An Idaho native, Mr. Peterson is active in the community as a volunteer. He volunteers as an attorney for the CASA program, representing abused and neglected children. Mr. Peterson has also served as a member of the board and as a coach for North Boise Little League.
